Producing an amazing video isn't as easy as whipping up a batch of delicious chocolate chip cookies, but over the years, Metro has perfected our video production recipe. We pride ourselves in offering only the freshest, most high-quality ingredients with no artificial flavors or preservatives.
Here's a brief overview of what goes on in our kitchen.
Step One: Pre-Production
It's all about preparation! During the pre-production phase, we work closely with clients to fully understand their overall vision in order to create a dynamic video that shares the intended message. We try to anticipate and prevent any potential issues to ensure a smooth filming process.
Here are some duties completed during pre-production:
- Kick-off meetings
- Brainstorming sessions
- Script writing
- Content creation
- Shoot scheduling
- Location scouting
- Travel arrangement
- Gathering props, wardrobe, etc.
- Casting talent
Step Two: Production
It's go time! Our production team uses top-of-the-line film equipment to record video content. An incredible amount of work goes into capturing each and every shot. Production isn't just about being behind the lens: hours are also spent setting up for a shoot, packing and unpacking supplies, hauling around heavy equipment, and traveling from one time zone to the next. Each day is an adventure, and our crew has been lucky enough to travel to thousands of locations, from France to Dubai to Kuwait to London.
Team members who may be on set during a typical shoot:
- Director of Photography
- Audio Technician
- Assistant Cameraperson
- Lighting Director/Gaffer
- Production Assistant
- Makeup Artist
- Props Stylist
- Teleprompter Operator
Step three: Post-Production
Everything is starting to come together! Our post employees (editors, graphic artists, and an audio engineer) carefully log the footage, create 3D animations, select music, and put together a rough cut of the program. A streaming link is shared with the client to review with their team; feedback is then given and revisions take place. One more round of reviews and then we move into the final cut, when color grading and sound design are implemented. The video receives any finishing touches, and then the project is complete!
As you can see, it takes a lot of effort and energy to produce a video. Every project we create is a labor of love. A team of talented people work incredibly hard to make the end product look amazing, and their passion for each video shines through.
Above all, video production is a fulfilling, creative, always-evolving industry that Metro is proud to be part of (35 years and counting!).
