We are excited to welcome Pat Cashman to Metro Productions! Pat is our newest editor and comes from our sister company, m2 Pictures. He will be a huge asset to the post-production team as we tackle new projects this summer.
Tell us a little about yourself. I grew up in Virginia Beach and attended James Madison University where I majored in sociology and minored in music industry (what a combo!). After graduation, I interned with New Dominion Pictures in Suffolk, VA. The plan was for me to be in the audio department, but I ended up with the assistant editors instead and fell in love with the editing process. New Dominion offered me an assistant editor position after my internship was complete, and for three years I worked on several series for the Discovery family of networks. Eventually I moved out west to try my luck in L.A. Once there, I worked as an assistant editor for 10x10 Entertainment on a VH1 contest reality show called The Shot. I later took a job with Actuality Productions as an assistant editor on the series Modern Marvels, which airs on the History Channel. About a year later, I got an opportunity to edit back in Hampton Roads, where I freelance-edited on several more series for Discovery. Then I was offered a job at m2 Pictures as an editor. Over the years, I’ve worked on everything from documentaries to reality to docu-drama to paranormal. I was at m2 for about five years before getting the opportunity to come to Metro and expand my experience.
What is your proudest career accomplishment? Winning a Silver Telly Award for editing! It was for a show that was a really difficult edit and I put a lot of hours into the project.
Who are your role models? My biggest role model is my father. He has always been there for me and is my biggest fan. Another role model of mine is Theodore Roosevelt. He was a true Renaissance man and packed so much into his life.
What is a quote that inspires you? “Though leaves are many, the root is one.” - W.B. Yeats, "The Coming of Wisdom with Time." It’s just a great quote that applies to so many aspects of life.
What do you like to do on your days off? I love to spend time with my family. I have an 8-month-old daughter, so I spend as many moments as I can with her. When the weather permits, I enjoy being outside and going to the beach, paddleboarding, and fishing.
